Masuda Anam Kalpona began singing Nazrul Songs from her childhood. As a child, she loved music and often entered in musical competitions. Few of such occasions were Esho Gan Shikhi, Choyonika Shilpi Gosthi competitions where she won prizes, which later acted as driving forces for her in music. Kalpona enrolled as a student at Chhayanaut and completed a 5 year course in Nazrul Songs.

She is the disciple of personalities such as Anjali Roy, Sohrab Hossain, Nilima Das, Sudhin Das, Selina Hossain, Ashit De and Indian classical guru Muhammad Sagiruddin Khan. Kalpona is now a regular teacher of Nazrul Sangeet at Chhayanaut Music School. Apart from Nazrul songs Kalpona also performs songs of yesteryears, Atul Proshad, D L Roy, Rajanikanta etc.She has a number of CDs in the market.

Having an educational background in Mathematics and MBA, Kalpona had a favourable environment for music at home . Her music flourished even more after she got married with Khairul Anam Shakil, who is an eminent Nazrul exponent of Bangladesh.
